This is an interactive projection piece I made at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. An image is projected on a wall-mounted circle which the viewer can freely rotate. Spinning the circle simulates the act of spinning a dryer drum containing me and some clothing. In the video below, a person interacts with the piece.
It involves a 26" plywood disk attached to a rotary encoder. The rotary encoder sends data to an Arduino, which passes the current
rotation position of the disk to a laptop over serial input. The laptop is running Processing, and picks up the serial input and uses it to scrub through the video.
I built a version for the web below, so you can try it at home. It's very fun.
